Ingrown hairs can be a right pain in the…….. head, face, leg, boob or butt!!!!
They can be painful, uncomfortable and let’s face it they don’t look great.
What is an ingrown hair?
Ingrown hairs can appear in a few ways, they can lay just under the surface of the skin which a slight scrape to the skin will release it. Another form is what would look like a blackhead or a hard pimple which a little squeeze and it will pop like a spot and out it will come normally, followed by this pearly consistency and the hair which is no longer in the follicle.
The worse kind is one which curls back on its self so the tip on the hair inverts in and the hair continues to grow, bacteria then forms and that is where we can start to see or feel problems. They can be very painful, look extremely red and inflamed. When an ingrown hair gets to this point it can be very difficult to get rid of. However, not impossible. The market has some great products which will help to prevent and remove them.
What can cause an ingrown hair?
Ingrown hairs can be caused by a number of things from skin conditions, hereditary conditions and immune problems, that said the most common would be by shaving, waxing and tweezing. Whilst all of these methods of hair removal or maintenance are safe and will not effect most people, for a lot of clients this is a hair and skin nightmare. For some all they need to do is look at a shaver or book a waxing appointment and before they know it they have red irritating lumps and so the circle continues.
Where can they occur?
In short they can occur where there is hair, which means anywhere. Now some areas can be very problematic. One of the worst is perianal ingrown hairs which can be such a pain in the bum in the most literal terms because this is the area they are susceptible to infection and can be so painful.
Can laser help?
Triple wavelength laser has proven to be one of if not the most effective way of putting an end to those little pains in the butt. Using 3 types of light hitting the 3 stages of growth from the baby stage, the teen stage and then the adult stage otherwise know as an Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. By doing this we permanently destroy the hair quicker and more effectively than any other form of hair removal. Because we are not opening the pore up there is less chance of bacteria build up or causing infection. Laser is the best way to deal with reoccurring ingrown hairs and the bonus no regrow after as little as 6 sessions.
